Hand Painted JAPAN need help

    Can someon help me out with this divided dish. What is confusing is the holes on the end as you can see. The mark on bottom references Hand Painted Japan, but why the holes? Also is the mark occupied Japan or not....Thanks.

    Given the holes' position and spacing, your dish may well be missing its handles.
