Hi, my name is Matthew I love to scrounge through thrift stores and yard sales for antiques! I recently came across this trunk and was wondering if someone could help me identify if it’s antique or a knock off. Here is all I know... it’s definitely camphor wood (slightly stinky) around the rim it appears that tacks were used to attached the top to the rim underneath. 24”x12”x12” Can someone please help? .... also can someone help me it’s saying the pictures I’ve taken with my phone is too big to upload.

While still a good find with some age, the quality of the carving suggest this is not antique. Maybe from the 50s or 60s. Hard to tell on these things since they were made the same way over decades.

Does anybody have any idea what the holes on the lid are. To me they appear to be possibly nail holes where the lid was attached to the rim.

Formerly attached brass or stone decorations? The Chinese often used them.
