Found this Friday at a local thrift store - At first I thought it was a paint by numbers painting! But as I looked at it, it seemed familiar to me - and for the small price it was worth the gamble.
Can anyone tell me the artist's name?
Is it Hawaiian? Pacific Islands? Tahitian?
It has a water stain on the back - is it worth removing/replacing back?
    Any info would be appreciated.

I think it might best be described as a tropical scene. But appears to have significant water damage. You'll want to remove from frame and examine for that.

Is the painting done on cardboard? The front has damage too, as has been noted.

Jivvy the research is my favorite

Pretty generic beach scene (even with the flame tree), could be lots of places.

Unless the baskets are a clue... but I don't know enough about baskets to say.

The foxing in the sky is a problem. Very difficult to remove and it seems the card or paper stock the painting is on is prone to it.

As long as it's not a known artist I'll give it to someone who buys another painting.
    Thank you all
