Head vase - unusual?

    Hi - found this head vase the other day, just marked Japan so I suppose foil sticker is missing ..anyone know any info on this one?

    Welcome to the forum blooey, I like your head vase:) I looked through The Encyclopedia of Head Vases by Kathleen Cole and didn't see this one, sorry.

    mmm...too bad! Not recorded ...maybe it was only imported into Canada then?

    She is beautiful, and I didn't find another one. Maybe if you had a picture against a plain background you might have better luck with an image search, but those don't work for me most of the time.

    Strikes me as maybe a Japanese stereotype of a Chinese peasant, skin darkened by working in the sun.

    In my experience the ones stamped "JAPAN" are a little older than the ones with stickers. Not sure I've seen one with both a stamp and a sticker.
