This is about 6 1/4 inches tall, very heavy for its size, over 2 pounds. I don't know what its purpose is. I know it's a goblet, but not practical to use. I thought maybe trench art? What do you all think?

I guess it could, but the recess is almost 4 inches deep, and not flat to be a stable surface for a candle. Doesn't seem like that is its intended use. Thanks for the idea.

a candle with the proper diameter that goes 4 inches deep would not require a flat base to be stable.....
    just sayin......

Any chance it might be a table lighter, missing its insert?

All good ideas, and possible. It is really too heavy to drink from and I think too clunky to be an ornamental chalice. It is put together not exactly straight. A lighter missing its insert I would never have thought of. Interesting.
