    I think this same painting was discussed last year or the year before. I think it was an angry father whose daughter just eloped.

    Yup. I have that print. I was the one who was looking for info. Someone actually found the title and I'd been looking for years. This hung in my great-aunt's house and I got it because the story always fascinated me.

    They are very interesting art subject mine I believe is chalk I rubbed it with my finger and the color rubbed off on my finger anyways thanks for your reply.

    The frame looks date-worthy as to the newspaper ad on the back. If it is chalk, it is probably called "pastel painting" and the surface is very fragile.
