Help ID medals/badges

My cousin is trying to ID these medals, from a photo of her husband's great, great grandfather, John Reese, who served in the Civil War. She wrote: "According to his papers he was held prisoner for a shot time then released in a prisoner exchange.
He was a member of the GAR and was supposed to have been a member of the 54th PA Infantry.

The badge with the two horses also looks like it has the Pennsylvania state seal with it."

I agree with her about the medal with the two horses, but haven't any idea what the other (a watch fob?) is. It seems to have crossed flags at the top, doesn't it?

Looks like a B under the eagle.

 

I tried inverting the colors and when I look at the result, what I thought was a flag now looks like a horse head -- with a bent leg below the head. What do you think?

 

Not sure now. Do you see the B? I think it may have numbers bottom right.

 

well, there's horses on the other medal......so why not !

 

@Huntingtreasure, I sure wish I could!!!! Been trying!!! I can enhance the image a bit, but CANNOT pull ANYTHING off of that image!!!!! I don't even see where there might be a "GAR" ANYWHERE!!!!! But, will look again!

I am about to go our for my Daily Death March and as soon as I return I will check that site, thanks.

 

Now, I do see either "BB" or "something B" on the Watch Fob accessory...but NOTHING on the medal on the right....really wish I could have!!

 

That's great, Aquitaine, thanks. The thing on the left is back to looking like a flag to me, and I see a very faint B, too.

 

I also spent a bit of time looking for that configuration of Civil War Medals, and couldn't come up with that configuration.....I'm sure it's out there.....I just didn't find it.......think it's going to take some serious digging!!! You might try digging into what CW PA records PA has available for you to search!!
