I'm going to go out on a limb here. Bear in mind that this is just my humble opinion based on a lot of glass that has passed through my hands over the years. The Cranberry Ruffled vase..... I agree that the Polished pontil would most likely rule out Chinese and Fenton. I also agree that is probably a late 1800's piece. Rare or not, the sad part is, that a lot of inexperienced glass sellers on eBay automatically list anything with ruffles as FENTON. This has really watered down the market for the earlier nice pieces of Cranberry like yours. If you do an eBay search for "Ruffled Cranberry vase" You will see many similar to yours, Some correctly ID'D as Fenton and others ID'D as Fenton which are not. Then look at the sold listings. Some argue that the color isn't really CRANBERRY, but this is where most anything in this color range is dumped. Sadly, I can't ID the maker for you, but I do believe it to be a nice quality older piece. Just not worth what it should be. I would have bought it, based on quality and "Prettyness" alone. If you (or we on the board) could come up with a solid ID, I'm sure you could get a much better price for it.
