Featured Help id this vintage wooden trinket box ?

With spring beginning to peek its head out and Easter around the corner I though now is a fitting time to call on you guys for help with this item. Its 5x5 inches (13cm) with two chrome birds watching over their nest. It has no markings on the wood or on the birds and eggs. It has a bit of a Art Deco look to it but it could also just be a craft work box. Anyways please let me know what you guys think. Thank you.

Odd about the hole in the bottom... makes me think it was once a part of something else.

Or perhaps that's where a music box movement was attached?

 

The indents on the bottom sure look like someone lost their patience trying to fit it onto something. Could have been a music box. Thanks for your comments.

Maybe something was fitted into it and the hole was to be able to push it out for cleaning or what not. It is seriously cute.
