I found this strange item that looks like an old bottle opener, but I’m not sure. One side features a female saint, and the other side shows a male saint. There is an inscription that looks like “DEPOSE.” The metal appears to be brass or bronze, possibly with some silver plating. Does anyone know exactly what this could be? Déposé just means registered (as in copyrighted). They don't look like saints to me but traditional costumed people from Armorique, France. Some sort of tourist souvenir I'm guessing.

Is it possible it's missing something that should be at the bottom? Can we get a look inside that area?

Could something slip in between the bottom space? It almost looks like the handle of a mirror or something.

Hah I was thinking it might be a letter opener without its blade but a handle on a mirror is a good thought too.

It’s sad that there is no blade. Do you know where I can buy it?

In Armorique for sure lol! You might have to carefully measure and buy another letter opener to sacrifice. I can't tell if you could actually use that hole to glue something in. If not then you'd have to find someone who would work with whatever metal that is made out of.

Yes, a souvenir from Brittany. Pont Aven if I'm correct.
Armorica is the old Latin name, which dates from Roman times. Armorique is the French version.

Yes, it wasn't made yesterday.;) That texturing on the sides is something you see on 1970s and later items.
It is a nice quality souvenir.
