Hi - I inherited this from my great grandparents- I was hoping someone might recognise the initials on this. No idea on origin. They lived in Holland, but travelled a lot in early 20th century.

You will have to research the initials, but could be a Wallace Nutting.

Hopefully someone here is familiar with his silhouettes and how they are signed.

I don't think this is Wallace Nutting. This is very art deco. Nutting pieces tend to be "old colonial" in character.

Just saying OP should check out the possibilty.

I am more familiar with his hand colored prints to be sure, but I know he did do silhouettes.

This one looks much more animated than his usual safe and sedate ladies, but he did partner with other artists. It could be a product of that collaboration.

I do think if you are searching Wallace Nutting for this, you are going to be disappointed.

Prices for his work has dropped.

But my point was to say that maybe it could be THE WN!

OTOH.....if PO has never heard of him..................

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I found a guide to Wallace Nutting silhouettes, in a PDF format. The silhouettes were actually drawn by an employee named Ernest John Donnelly. They were either signed with a copyright mark and WN, or with the initials EJD. The WMN (or M/WN) in the original post here does not fit the pattern. And I don't know where the M would have come from, either...
