Help identifying hallmarks on two spoons — Georgian? London? Maker?

Hi all,

I have two silver spoons from a mixed lot and I'd really appreciate help confirming the hallmarks, since I want to make sure I describe them accurately before selling.

What I can see on the marks (please correct me if I'm misreading any of these):

• A maker's mark (initials, not fully legible to me)
• A walking lion in profile within a shield
• A leopard's head that appears to have a small crown above it, within a shield
• A single letter (looks like "A") in its own shield
• A profile of a head/bust (possibly a monarch) within an oval or rounded shield

I have close-up photos of both spoons' marks and they look very similar to each other, but I'm not confident whether they're identical (same maker, same date) or subtly different — the stamps aren't perfectly clear in places.

What I'm hoping someone can help with:

1. Can anyone confirm whether the crowned leopard's head points to London, and roughly what era that puts these in?
2. Is it possible to narrow down the date letter/year from "A" without a clearer photo, or is there a reasonably reliable range you'd suggest based on the mark style?
3. Does the maker's mark look identifiable from the initials, or is it too worn to say?
4. Any thoughts on whether these are a matching pair (same maker/date) or two separate/unrelated spoons?

I'll attach close-up photos of both sets of marks. Really appreciate any expertise — I'd rather get this right than guess before listing them for sale.

Wait for others to verify but they look like London from the late 1700s to me. A for 1796 and C for 1798 with Peter and Ann Bateman as possible maker on the one.

Say it Slowly has the correct maker. It is Peter and Ann Bateman. Does the other spoon have the same maker's mark? Or a different maker's mark? Even if it is slightly worn, sometimes there can be enough there to decipher it.

I only see the decoration on the other side, please see the attached.

I had no idea they could be that old, that is amazing!

 

They have a similar bright-cut engraved design, with a single letter monogram. A shame the other spoon lacks the maker's mark, possibly worn away with use. Nice spoons regardless.
