    @Eric99 , is this an inherited family piece? Or did you acquire it from somebody else? Just wondering whether you know more of the story of the Hazlet family. And, welcome to Antiquers!

    I think we all appreciate James adding Cincinnati's history - history and knowledge is everything when it comes to furniture.... very interesting.

    I don't know why but for some reason Cincinnati gets short shrift in manufactured furniture and Grand Rapids seems to get all the glory in that area. The truth is, Cincinnati was a major player and gave GR a run for their money for most of the 19th century in manufacturing American furniture.

    True enough. The only thing I can think of is that all trembled before the might of Berkey & Gay in the late 19th century, the nation's most prolific. Great quality, too.

    Mitchell & Rammelsberg put Cincy on the map decades before that, but it seems they were in decline by the 1880s.
