There is no signature on the back or the photographs. Both of these are 11 x 14 and old heavy stock. From the sitters probably the 40s. These were both beautifully matted and framed. Though the frames are newer with metal pieces that hold the back. A real pain to get off.

I've already tried google images and duplichecker to see if I could find a match.

These are beautiful. The first looks like an older Ginger Rogers. But, I don't think it's her. I wish I knew who took them. I'd bet it's someone known given the beauty of the photographs.
    Any ideas?

I have a Hurrell of Lila Lee. His photos are stamped or embossed with his name. It does look like his style. I'd be thrilled if it was. But, he's so famous, his photos would have his monikor somewhere on it.

The Hurrell is the first. Lee has her hand in her hair. The tiny one below that is a great Marlene Dietrich. Patsy Ruth Miller is wearing the hat. She and Lee were both co-stars of Lon Chaney Sr. Miller played Esmerela in the silent Hunchback of Notre Dame. The guy is Douglas Fairbanks Sr. They're all autographed

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

    Nice staircase display!

I agree with you that the first photo in your first post is not Ginger Rogers. At first I was thinking maybe Veronica Lake, with a hairstyle she didn't usually wear. But I've looked at a lot of photos of her and now don't think it is her.

The other woman also looks familiar but I can't place her.

Beautiful photographs! The second one looked familiar to me, so I showed them to my Dad who has a terrifyingly good mental catalog of film related information.

Turns out the second woman looks a great deal like his grandmother, which might be why she looks familiar to me, but he doesn’t think it actually is her.

She actually looks like my great-grandmother. And quite a few people from that side of the family.
Imagine her with piercing brown eyes, and you see my g-grandmother.;)

They both look like celebrities. It's because of how well the photographs were taken. There was a third of a man. But, the photo had so many creases, I couldn't buy it.
It would be very funny if it was her.

I have to take photos (I did once, and have no idea where they are). On the wall closest to Lila Lee is Carole Lombard and Norma Shearer, who are in a class all their own. On the wall to the right of Fairbanks are two more lots of autographed photos. There are a couple that I don't even know who they are, but the photos are so beautiful (of course autographed) that they made the wall. I have one of a scene from a play autographed by the actress. I looked her up, and she died not even a year after the photo was taken. I think it was the early 30s. She looked like a kid. I think she was in her 20s or early 30s when she passed.

Granny looks like everyone's relative. She's a beaut. Not quite up to the fashionesta photo. It's surprising the photographer isn't stamped someone. It's nowhere and these are old heavy stock photos. The photographer had talent.
