I learned eons ago, never take a chance on meeting w/ a stranger for an exchange. It was embedded in me by my then 14 year old police explorer son. It is actually in a training program I used to give parents, and our police department then news letters. Apparently, people were getting ripped off. Better safe than sorry is the way I look at it. Regardless of an area that is deemed “safe”, they say you are never safe inviting a stranger into your safe place.

    I agree, use caution.

I have sold on Craig's List with no problems, but if I can, I meet them away from home. For things like furniture I always make sure DH is home and have the item in my garage, I never let them in the house.

It's like protecting yourself while holding a yard sale, when I have one only the front door is open, all other doors are locked. I've heard stories about someone engaging the sellers at the front of the house while their buddies enter from the back and clean it out :mad::mad::mad::mad:

It is a great problem in my opinion. It is educational, entertaining, and well a good way to spend time.
