[QUOTE="Kasperscuriosities, post: 77480, member: 404"]She died back in the 80's when I was just a kid. She raised me until I was around 6 or 7 though cause both my parents drove long haul trucks at the time. She was 87 when she died in 1989 so she probably did wear a flapper dress or two. ;-)

She was quite the character though. She taught me how to bet on the ponies when I was just a tot. She also bought me my first horse and even though it was "medicinal" she gave me my first sips of whisky.

Now I know my great granddad "her husband" was a moonshiner back in the day. Oh there are some funny stories there.

She also told me stories about watching Bonnie and Clyde running from the police right past the old house. My great granddad and her ran a general store that used to sit on the front of their property. Her house and that old store have been gone a long time. I have some pictures of the old store in a bad state of decay back in the 60's. It was torn down long before I was born.

She was a tough old bird the kind that answered the door with shotgun in hand. Everyone said she was mean but she loved me to death and spoiled me rotten as a kid. I called her O'mama my great granddad was O'papa but he died when I was just a baby.

So yeah I have some colorful characters in my ancestry. You know that song "I Come From A Long Line Of Losers" I am pretty sure it was written about me. LOL! I loved her dearly though.

Irish Cherokee... That's me. ;-) Ask me about the horse thieving preacher one day.
