Help me identify this piece, please

    I received this about 8 years ago from the surviving relative of a woman who traveled the world all her life, buying new and ancient pieces from the various places she went. She passed away in the 80's. Her relative had no idea what it was, could provide me no information. You can see the front, I have photos of the side online, it is like a thin container with what could be two spaces that perhaps could have made it a bracelet or necklace at one time. I have no idea. It looks like the Star of David. When you hold it in your hand, you get the "feeling" that it was very important to someone. That it matters.

    Very nice, WeeRandom. It looks like a Jewish amulet case from Palestine (pre-Israel) or a neighbouring country (Lebanon, Syria). Palestine is at the top of my list.

    It is probably silver of a low fineness. Do you have a way of testing it (without damaging it)?
    Inside would have been something that was considered protective or healing, for instance a text, a piece of textile, a herb, or even a small stone. It could have been worn on a chain or attached to clothing.

    Not sure how to do that. Am learning, new to this site. A website came up that I guess was yours in England. Funny things is, I manage the office and do the books for my friends company that does the exact same type of work here in the states.

    I think I will have my local jeweler take it apart to see what is inside. Maybe it is a message of some sort, it really does have this"feeling" to it when you hold it.

    To embed in a Reply a photo that you have uploaded to the Gallery, Click on the little "camera icon" in the Reply Toolbar. That will prompt you to find the image in your Gallery Album, click on th image and Voila!
