    I wasn't sure the yellowish colour was the actual colour, or that it was supposed to be more silvery. If it is yellow, it is a local brass type alloy.
    Please don't. They will only damage it because they have no experience in handling this type of thing. Jewellers usually do more damage than good to old and ethnic pieces, they simply have no idea what they are dealing with.
    Whatever was once inside could have been taken out before it was sold anyway.

    I have a pretty large collection of amulets and amulet cases, and the ones that are shut, stay shut. I'd rather not know than damage the piece and the sanctity of its intention.
