Help naming this tool and its use ....

    It would be helpful to always include dimensions and multiple pictures (so we get to see an item from all angles and potentially see what happens when moving parts have been moved.)

    The piece of wood looks like a broom handle. Maybe something homemade?

    That's a good point. I'll try to include more details -- I might have the dimensions written down in my field book. It's not that long -- maybe 12" in length. It could very well be homemade, too. These Ranchers and Farmers were very inventive.

    For sure -- this is sitting on top of a wooden stool. It may not be the best angle, but i couldn't get any really detailed shots up close -- my camera wouldn't focus.
