How big is your item? May be a wax cast for lost wax casting for a coin.

When posting pictures, 1MB is the size limit, 10 pics per post, and when you upload the files, the very top image lets you click to "post every image full size"....MUST DO!!!!! Definitely agreeing... lost wax piece for an ornament or medallion or similar.
I wonder if it would be possible to do a pencil-rubbing or such to get a better impression of the subject...

It looks like a carving to cast a saint's medal of some kind. Just don't ask me which saint.
