In my neck of the woods, when people say they are going to paint a piece of furniture, this would be the result. :yuck::yuck::yuck:

So James doesn't appreciate shabby chic?:smuggrin::smuggrin:

For real, this is what people do these days, when they say they are going to 'paint' their brown furniture. Saw my neighbor do something similar to a plain Jane 70s buffet this summer. She was then going to use it in her sewing shop in town, as a display piece.

Well, I'd say they got the "shabby" down pretty well but, the "chic" part is MIA in my view! :hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:

This piece in particular I can’t see looking good painted unless it was done by someone with amazing talent and a vision I certainly don’t have. Someone said it would look like a “blob” and I couldn’t agree more. Could it be done? Maybe. Not that OP isn’t a talented artist because she could be but I don’t see it turning out well with this one. Then again I’ve never had the ability to envision what an artist sees until something is near done.

EXACTLY! that's the point, not everyone is gifted with design/painting skills so, it seems like a no brainer to me to hire someone who is. Hello?
That first painted dresser i posted was done by Julie McDowell for a client, Julie sells her Design Artist services on Etsy & Facebook.
Thing is, there are hundreds, probably thousands of Julie's out there, you just have to find them.
She posted a page on the process she used on giving that dresser a "face lift", entire process at the link, i am posting first couple.

A Face Lift for Miss Waterfall

This little waterfall dresser had seen happier days. A lot of the veneer was peeling away and she needed a new face.

The whole piece was sanded and missing edges were filled. Then decisions were made

    lloyd249 it's not hoarding if it's valuable

i agree if the piece is not good ya polyfill and paint but this piece (OP) doesn't fall into that category to me IMO

Thank you everyone. I’m not painting it nor modifying it in any way. If I decide to sell it, any suggestions on a list price?

IMO I would spice it up a bit with some custom fit red crushed velvet on the bottoms , give it a good clean and polish , maybe a little stain in any parts that are maybe scratched/nicked or visible to the eye .
