Hey everyone bought this interesting pop art wooden Frog this weekend. At first I thought it was just a side table but flipped it over and saw a signature and realized it’s a sculpture of some sort. Anyone recognize the artist? A little late for pop art. Postmodern maybe.

Thanks for the size, is it fiberglass?
I believe this may come from Mexico, in fiberglass and / or wood.

Neither Post Modern nor Pop IMO although I’m good with Hop. Contemporary/Funk and adorable.

IMO it’s also contemporary folk art. Of all the art isms, PM (Memphis was a PM group) is the toughest to define but this piece doesn’t relate to that movement although it certainly shares bright color and humor. PM is first and foremost an architectural movement that was a response to the perceived negative austerity of Modernist Minimalism. There is virtually always an architectural nod in PM and in the art of those that continue in that vein-a perfect example is the Los Angeles artist Peter Shire.

That doesn’t mean that if selling one cannot use any keywords they see fit whether accurate or not as long as they’re not spam. IMO using Post Modernism on the table is incorrect but Memphis would be spam.

I have *no* idea as to age, provenance, maker, or place of origin, but I would really like to! What a cool piece!
