Hi team! Can anybody shed some light on this lovely little piece? It is silver plated with wear on the lid. Has "Here's your" engraved on the top. Nifty collar and bow tie on the rim.
    Any clues? IMG_1456.JPG IMG_1457.JPG IMG_1458.JPG IMG_1459.JPG

No, it's only 6.5 cm in diameter. I had thought cufflinks perhaps.....

I probably should have updated my archaic vocabulary and said cuff links, but for some reason I find it difficult to "be like normal people".

Yes, a man's small jewellery box is what I meant.............

    From the Etsy ad
    “Measures almost 1 1/2 inches high with a 2 1/2 inch diameter.”
Which I think is equal to 6.5 cm.

Thanks so much team! This certainly looks very similar to the Pairpoint silver cufflink/stud boxes you have unearthed. But this one is English, not American. Does anybody recognize the maker?

Please don't, it is perfect as it is. Refreshing.

Ummm, it has a rebus on the lid - says, "Here's your stud(s)", the handle being a physical representation of a stud...

    Hi,
I still have several Tuxedos and perhaps a dozen sets of studs. I also have several sets of cuff links made from the 1940s and older. I remember the rage in the 1970s of wearing blue jeans with Tuxedo shirts and studs. Unfortunately do to Disco movements several studs were lost. My favorite set were 18kt gold and emeralds. I bought them as costume and paid 10 bucks for them. When they went to auction they sold for a princely sum. It is one of the things I really miss.

Here's an 1892 ad for an American silverplate "collar button box" with a similar rebus:

And my aluminum stud box filled with stray studs:

Hm. I could really use one of those boxes to hold all of my great-grandfathers studs and links. ;)

This is another case of "But we DID see that", and some of us assumed that everyone did. Some of us are a bit to confident and smug..................thank you Dragonflywink for pointing out what I thought was obvious and didn't even bother to mention..............I shall now give myself 16 whacks on the topknot with a folded newspaper while repeating "I will not be a dolt ALL my life" aloud.
