I found this today at my local thrift store. I don't now if anyone can find out the artist's name unless he is well known - but I'm hoping!
It's signed EJM and dated '52 & on the back it has a message to someone and is signed Ellis; that note is dated CHristmas '52.
I am posting it because I think the painting has ...something special to it, & I am hoping someone who painted like this would be known.
Anyone know an artist named Ellis J M...?
Anyone think this painting has "it"?
    Thanks

That signature on the back may actually be "Ellie."

Regionalist style and fairly competent. Doubt it is by a known artist. The frame is a nice one but maybe not necessarily for this painting.

Bev aka thelmasstuff Colored pencil artist extraordinaire ;)

    Could be Ellis, not Ellie.

  10. Definitely says “to Cassie Always Ellie” the writing of the letter e in Cassie is the same. The s in Cassie and Always is not the end of the name Ellie

Cassandra and Eleanor are typical names of the era in which "Ellie" learned her penmanship.
