    Hi all,
I know zip about beads so need some help:) From a photo search, came up with Venetian/Murano/African glass/clay beads. I'm pretty sure they are glass and not African but I've been wrong before. Any idea of age?
    any information appreciated
    thanks for looking:)

Not easy shapes to find. Making my fingers itch; those want to be hand strung with knots in between.

Agree. They look like nicer ones, too. Likely vintage IMO.

    excellent, thank-you Bronwen:)

    they do Aquitaine:)

I like the square ones :)

    thanks Lucille:)
I found some for sale, suggesting 1950-1960s - does that sound about right?
Also asking $9 per bead - does that not seem crazy high for a bead?

At $9/bead the strand I have is worth a chunk of change. I'd be surprised if they can get that though.

My necklace was new in the early 1970s, has the same (American) football shaped beads. Just had to have it at the time. Quickly learned the gold barrel clasp had a way of unscrewing itself & now never wear them.

Think the bead seller is correct that older millefiori is more detailed; newer stuff can look like centofiori. @cxgirl Your beads, particularly the cube shaped ones, look like newer stock to me.

    thanks Bronwen:)
it is no wonder I don't get much done some days:) After looking up beads and how they are made I remembered I had a small dish of pieces of cane that I got when I bought that paperweight collection several years ago. Took me a bit to find them, but here they are. No idea on who made them but they are cool to look at:) @Ownedbybear would you know who made them?

Lol, that statement usually results from several months of searching until I find the offending item exactly where I decided it definitely wasn’t!

Someone here directed me to the beadman on facebook. He is offline for a few weeks he said but I think he would be a good source of info for you . I am certainly going to use him for my cloisonne beads.
