It does look like the sort of art that people award medals for but no-one actually wants to buy. Not real people anyway.

The one legged chicken has exploded, frightening the other two. Great. That's the poultry loving market down the pan straight away.

Instructor will attempt to show the student how to "flow" a landscape into an interesting fragment (which is a vignette) shape. We will work from a student-taken photo into a working sketch, using values in black, white and gray. This will be translated into a watercolor rendering which will be critiqued. This session will be for all levels of artists and will be a fun experience for all.

    Class size: Max 6 people.

I did contact the gallery she works out of and waiting. the 10/10 I am thinking may be the date? This is not a print so couldn't. be numbered?

Nope -- it is a print of some sort -- you have the 10th impression out of a limited run of 10 prints. :)

After looking at her other paintings, I'm wondering if this was an earlier work. The composition, use of color, etc., look significantly different to me.

Ah, I missed that it's a print. That could explain why the style looks so different.

Well it must be some kind of impression print. It is on the paper pretty thick, I can feel it and that is why I thought painting. Like a Dry point etching only done with watercolor paint.

Definitely a print. Could be a serigraph.

I looked up some serigraphs and this could pretty much be this type of printing.
    Thank you Brad,
    Good to see you again.

I Got to talk to Jan this morning by phone. We talked for almost an hour. She is 85 now and still painting and teaching. This print is a silkscreen serigraph that she did back in the late 1960's This number 10 of 10 she kept for years and had it put in her gallery a while back. What i didn't know is once the amount of prints are made the plates were destroyed so no more could be made.
She invited me to come to her Home studio to meet her and see more of her work.
