No, I meant it is not the sought after Austro-Hungarian Historic Revival style. It is Austro-Hungarian Art Nouveau or Recessionist style, also collectible, like all Art Nouveau jewellery is.
The Historic Revival style had its stronghold in the more rural areas of the Austro-Hungarian empire. On the other hand, cities like Vienna and Prague were very cosmopolitan and kept up with international developments like Art Nouveau, but gave their own twist to it.
Austro-Hungarian Art Nouveau isn't necessarily recognizable as specifically Austro-Hungarian, whereas the AH Historic Revival style generally is.

Thank you so much, AJ, for that detailed explanation. It led me to more googling and I found a history of the Vienna Secession and then found many gorgeous examples of Vienna Secession style jewelry. Thanks to you I now understand how the difference between that style and the Historic Revival style evolved.

Beautiful, isn't it? You can see some of it going towards Art Deco, more than most other Art Nouveau styles. German Jugendstil can have that too.

So I got my gem tester, and it looks as though the stones are ruby and maybe emerald- the red stones pegged the needle and were consistent but the green stones were kind of all over the place, so a bit harder to tell. The piece in the middle rubs on teeth like pearl; it is definitely not polished shell. I am not disappointed!! :)

Yay! The gem tester has already earned its purchase.;)
I suspected the stones were real and the red ones were ruby.
Do you mean different green stones tested differently? There are different shades of green, and I think they could be different types of stones. Maybe some emeralds, and some peridots?

Sorry for the delayed reply!! No, it just wouldn’t settle on any one area when I tested them- The same stone was testing one area one time and another the other time. These machines are quirky to stay the least, LOL.

I have found that if the stones are the least but dirty, front or back, gem testes can give a false reading. Were you able to clean the stones before testing?
