Help with colors in bark cloth panels

Bev, I think that refers to "vat dye(s)" / "vat dyeing." I think it may also have some meaning as to the "stability" (my choice of that word) of the color(s).

Thinking out loud I would say that a "vat" would mean the dyeing solution could/would be stirred/agitated with a "paddle" or mechanical device attached to the vat.

There are more references on-line to "vat dye" "vat dyes" (some quite academic from a "chemical/chemistry of the process" point of view).

P.S. Both of the pictured fabrics in this thread are lovely.

 

This is making me want to dig out all my old textiles and redo my living room. That would be a hoot.

 

Let us know if this sells. I'm interested in the market for textiles. It's so hard to buy them online, though. I'm always afraid they won't end up looking the same in person.
