Don't overlook the (partially visible) writing on the front bench. Perhaps it will mean something to someone. Doesn't to me.

I was asking because, every time I think I've found something, but it's not quite enough to be certain it turns out to be Canadian... like this...

Here is a close up of one of the badges. Clearest it will get.

I don’t think it’s the Toronto regiment since there doesn’t appear to be any open space to the left or right.

I think badges are crossed rifles denoting "marksman" -- the lower left sleeve placement is standard for British, but that's as far as my knowledge goes -- it could be standard for others as well.

Close up with my loop and they are definitely crossed rifles.

I admit. It's killing me not to be able to find this uniform.

I agree. Looks like the entire thing is done in a typical needlepoint tent stitch.
Samplers are called just that because the piece is comprised of a "sample" of various embroidery stitch types and is a show of skill. This is a rather simple needlepoint apparently using all one stitch type. Nevertheless, it's very nice!

I'm still waiting on my membership to be "approved" so that I can post. And it's not a US site, so I'm thinking they may be sleeping right about now.
