Found this at a local thrift store & thought it was really pretty even though I'm not a cat guy (I have 3 dogs)! But I can't make out artist's first name - can anyone tell what it says - I used a different filter on last photo to try to make it stand out (Carrie?)

Thoughts on painting? I'm pretty sure it's not a factory painting, but am hoping it's not a 'week end' painter's work either.

    Harriet Schilling?
Charming painting, typical cat pose, and yes a Persian.

Sorry Journey but just a hobbyist painting.

I agree, but not bad. And there is likely to be a Persian cat lover out there who wants it.

Someone will definitely want that kitty.

Not sure the same person will want that plant, though. :jawdrop::joyful:

The way I see it, it represents the kitty's heroic escape from a triffid, so it is part of the story.:pompous:

komokwa The Truth is out there...!

    y'know...the paws are nice...the face is sweet....the fur is nice....the eyes are a little off...but I think there's a buyer for it..!!
Oh, and the plant which I believe to be a ponytail palm...is well done too !!

All in all.....it may be amateur .....but it has that slice of life goin on ! :):)

& looking at the stuff you don't look at......the floor...little rug...side molding ..base of the plant just showing by the cat's feet........all this points to a good eye for detail.....so at the very least...... a very talented amateur !!!!

I agree there is talent there, and I think it is meant to be naive.

I think that's it -- specifically "Lorrie A Schilling". Scroll down (and scroll some more -- or do "find in page" for "Lorrie") to read about her here: http://www.whiningkentpigs.com/dw/eshtml61.htm

She had lived in the right part of the country (south Florida), too.

So funny! Hi! This is my painting I did of my cat, Whiskers. It sold at a local gallery show in the early 90’s. I never did get a photo of it. Thank you!! and I’m sorry, I am not a famous painter! I was doing Decorative Painting for awhile and did sell at a Boutique in NJ and showed at a few small galleries, did custom work, pet portraits....Hope I didn’t crush your dreams of $$$
