Hi! Why I'm here...

My name is Karen and I live in the "Bay Area" of California. My favorite antique that will be passed down to me is a spinning wheel and carding brush that was taken out of the attic of my relatives in Sweden. It has Sverige carved on it and a date from the 1800's. It might not be worth much, but it reminds me of my heritage and my farmor's skill at all needle arts.

I am helping my mom downsize and get ready for the next chapter in her life, whatever that may be. She has a large home loaded with things passed down from two families and a very dear neighbor who was like my third grandma. I don't think there are any great uber valuable treasures, but I want to make sure that we get a proper price for everything. I research values on the internet, but some things have me stumped, like a chair I will be posting. Looking forward to learning from all of you and hopefully being able to contribute what I know.

Getting the proper price for every last thing will take a lot of time and effort. As the saying goes you need to know when to hold them and know when to fold them and holding out for that last cent may not be practical or a good use of your time. Antique dealers "blow out" AKA sell at a loss, their mistakes all the time so no shame in letting things go that don't bring you joy.
