Didnt know if this is the right category for this subject.

Many years ago I bought a old film projector which came with some film rolls (not sure if they are 8 or 16mm). I bought it because I had a few familly film rolls myself which I wanted to see. Never looked back at the other rolls because I was not really interested.

Totally forgot about these and was going trough my stuff last weekend and found them again. Started to go trough them and watched a few for the fun of it. Now i was very surprised that one film role turned out to be related to Yoko Ono and John Lennon. Looks like it is a home made film which was recorded by them on turns and can find nothing like it, probably one of a kind.

Is this worth something? I have told one person which i know who's specialised in buying and selling records from the 60s and 70s and he straight away offered me £5000 for it?? I'm a bit confused now and it's a lot of money, but I also know that some Beatles related items can go for crazy money.... is his also the case with Yoko Ono and Lenon? .... any suggestions maybe. What should I do with this. I don't want to copy this to digital and send it to auction houses for valuation.

Can you get some individual frame shots and send them to an auction house?
Meanwhile, I would put it in a safe or a safe deposit box - seriously. I think this could be worth a lot of money.
How many minutes of footage is of John and Yoko?

Yes I was thinking about a few frame shots. Dont know how many min exactly because I watch only a few minutes and than was scared that I would ruined it (not a expert on electronics) it's a home made movie and yoko and John are filming each other by turns (no third person is filming)

They made a lot of what look like home movies which were then either incorporated into larger productions or released outright as artsey projects, 8mm film is 8mm wide with single sprockets and 16mm (you guessed it) is 16 mm wide with double sprockets. Both were sold to the general public as finished films since that's what we had back then!

Interesting to know. So this could be maybe one of them? How can I find out more about this? I can understand that the home videos which were used or published would be not worth that much. But this is maybe a unknown one from my research. Doesn't his make a difference?

I have this issue with 11 50' films of the building of the Spirit of St. Louis and Charles Lindbergh.
These were shot by one of the builders.
I've been terrified to have anyone copy them for me. :p

    hmmmmm.
8mm and 16mm films can of course be reproduced and sold commercially. Possibly a Beatles collector or dealer could tell if the movie you have is an original, not before known to the public, or something that was widely reproduced or sold commercially.
Here's a site dealing with Lennon/Ono filmography that might provide a starting point for some research.

You might also try a Youtube search for John Lennon Yoko Ono home movies; if you see yours there, it is by definition not a unique item.
If it is unique, it would certainly have some value in the collector market.
