I don't have the same result though maybe we are removing different types of stickers. Old paper stickers from a store are a bear and almost always ruin the cover so I often leave them since that is just the way the book was originally sold.
I will use alcohol to clean the covers especially of kids books... :vomit:

Af, Thank you for posting this wonderful adventure. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment I read and seeing your finds. I really love being part of this group and seeing you all and the things from all over the world.

What's a sercy? I have said pick anything you like, she said I want to keep all of it as a reminder. I think she has a more personal link to the stuff, having picked a lot of it, and enjoyed being part of the operation, than the stuff I go out and buy on my own.

A sercy is a southern term & refers to a present that you give for no particular reason other than you know the recipient will like the item. It can be as inconsequential as a pack of gum or a candy bar all the way up to something that is very expensive. It all depends on the depth of your pockets, the degree of closeness or the circumstances surrounding the situation.

On a personal note, I have kept a few assorted items from certain hauls that I have made over the years. After you dig through enough of their stuff you start to feel like you sort of know them. It has usually been something that fits into my various collections, but is just something to happens to be included in their stuff. I have found that years later the item can bring a smile to my face & reminds me of all of the truly cool items I got to "play with" then send on to their forever homes.

Ah, I see. Being southern I suspect it derives from the French 'cherche' something found.

I don't know how to do the accent on the e.

We have two house clearances to do this week, one Wednesday and the other Thursday, mostly fairly modern household items, although both places have masses of boxed up smaller things which I have not yet examined so we might get lucky.
On the plus side we are being paid to clear them both so there are no expenses involved for us and both are very clean.

Maybe they have some inherited stuff tucked away. Good picking, anyway.
