The chest in the Met says 'Giusti' & 'Siena' on it. To museum curators, makes all the difference in the world.

What about the other books mentioned in the ad for ivory plaque? Masterpieces of the 19 century by Pepin Press?

    I'm sure it does
Before I go buying books that cover a wide range of artists I would rather find the book that covers just Giusti seeing as there is one out there but if I don't get any luck that might well be the only option. I have come to the conclusion if Giusti didn't document my piece then the best I can sell it as is "attributed too Giusti" which wont be as good.

I'm sure it makes all the difference, but if he documented my piece (and there's a good chance he did if he did indeed carve it) then I'm sure museums will be just as happy to have it.

Yes, it all hangs on that 'if'. Do you know whether the archive includes design sketches, visuals, not just verbal descriptions? Well, it's always nice to have a quest.

It certainly seems they will not be able to claim they have no category for your frame. My favorites are the Brand Cabinet & the 'Budge' teapot with the legend:
FEARFUL CONSEQUENCES OF THE LAWS OF NATURAL SELECTION AND EVOLUTION OF LIVING UP TO ONE’S TEAPOT

Did you notice the Giusti sketch isn't of the pair of brackets on the Blairman site but is of the ones on ebay

I confess I saw the Giusti section but did not closely compare.
