    Hi,
Either rubbing alcohol or vodka. Cheap vodka is great for shining up bathroom fixtures.

Using sometimes a similar technique in the last chance operator position, I put some isopropylic alcohol in an ultrasonic bath heated slowly, the stopper and the neck under the surface, it always has functioned but cost time and material, I make it on rare or expensive items.
