    I've noticed a lot of auction houses....still charging 15 ...17..%....if ur on the floor...but 20 - 25 %...if you're on the phone or online.

    I guess the idea is they have to have people on the phones/computer and those people get paid. So...soak the online folks. Rapacious is a great word, generally used more in print than in speech these days, at least here. Do harpies run the Ozzie charity shops? Rapacious harpy is a wonderful insult.

    Some of the charity shops in Glasgow, Scotland are way too pricey as well especially british heart foundation , they have a bare faced cheek to put stickers on their near retail priced books asking you to return them once you have read them , very seldom you get a bargain in their shops, RL.

    As if we'd buy them in the first place. In the USA, library book sales are the way to go. Some are library culls, but others were donated from outside. Dealers line up early and buy box loads. I don't deal in books for the most part, but most of the dealers are bar code scanners. I sometimes snipe 'em on the old stuff with no ISBNs.
