I found this vintage brooch signed by VW

Then discovered its by Viggo Wolney, but it doesn't say fammik on the brooch backing... it looks more vintage than antique to me. I love the stone. I tried to search for it, and the only search result I see is mine when I posted somewhere else so it looks like a rare piece... Has anyone heard of Viggo Wolney?

 

Very nice brooch, rish. Looks like Baltic amber, which is found on the coasts of Denmark.
The V.W. mark looks good to me.
Viggo Wolny (without an 'e') worked for several companies, not just for Jammik. Most of his work is Modernist.

It often looks like fammik but it is actually Jammik.

 

Haha, thanks for this info, I've seen several misspellings of this name so wasn't sure.

 

I think this is one he made independently, so you don't have to worry about the spelling of Jammik.

It means that you're right, it is carnelian.
'Proper' stones, like carnelian, are cold. Amber, a fossilized tree resin, is warm.
