    Hello everyone,

I got some goodies in the mail I'd like to share. The price was low enough, and my sense of what I was getting good enough, that I didn't ask for any additional photos. Here's the original photos from the listing:

So for the price being asked, I made a deal and the seller agreed to ship the spoons to me without the case. Opened them up today, here's the real ones from the bunch. I'm very happy with the purchase for around $30 total:

There's some nice ones there, Nate, but what's with the 2 far right in the last pic that just say SOUVENIR? Souvenir of what or where?

Thank you Bakersgma, for both of these, they had a circular disc glued on to indicate the location that must have come off at some point in time (i polished off the glue residue). I didn't see them in the package (i'll double check though as I was in a rush to look at all the goodies)

That sounds like a pretty cheapskate way for the manufacturer to deal with them. Who made them?

I agree, they are generic, they just say sterling on the back

Have seen a few of those over the years, relatively lightweight, the little medallions with some enamel - can't recall seeing a maker's mark, but they feel post WWII to me.

The Marthinsen 'Chicago' spoon is a favorite of mine, mostly because it has one of the old Marshall Field clocks in the bowl - I loved the downtown store when I was a kid...

The first two photos are the fish spoon, the next two are a couple more from the set:

It's a fairly common spoon in demitasse size, they also made a larger bonbon spoon - sold mine when I needed the money (but still have the small one).

Figured the twist stem with the little face was Danish (though I've seen a few German and Austrian) - I've several variants, in sizes from around 4" to almost 12" long (including an trio of silverplate pieces). Your maker is on the tip of tongue, but if doesn't come to me, I'll look it up...

That would be great if you find it. I found 925-1000 to be lacking for initial searches of Danish makers.

Can't quite make it out, Nate - what's the year (should be mid to late 19th century)?

I have it as Laurids Grønlund of Odense, working 1851-96:

This 1867 Anton Michelsen spoon has the same face, but different otherwise - it also has a later 1903 personalization, illustrating why engravings are not necessarily a reliable way to date an item:
