I can well remember my fountain pen getting blocked: I had a sort of little chamois cloth, which I think was cut from my dad's window cleaning cloth! Then Quink came in, with a non block formula and it made life much easier. And cartridges, of course.

    Hi,
I had a wonderful fountain pen that used cartridges. Once I ran out of a black cartridge and reused the cartridge using India ink. It dripped everywhere and ended up making a horrible mess and ended up rusting the inside of my pen. I was young and stupid. Later in life I spent a small fortune on a wonderful Mont Blanc pen. I had the dang thing for three months and I either lost it or it took a ride home with someone else. I still have the bottle of black ink that came with the pen.

I never said that it couldn't be used with a fountain pen, I said it was more likely to be used with a dip-pen, and I still stand by that statement. There's no reason you can't, I just wouldn't advise it. Like you I've used dip pens and fountain pens for decades now, and I still use them every day. I also buy, sell and repair vintage and antique ones. As such I'm extremely familiar with their construction, operation and faults.

I'm also familiar with how temperamental they can be when it comes to clogging. This is why I felt the need to say that a pen-wiper is more suitable for a dip-pen, which has less chance of clogging or skipping, than a fountain pen, which has some very fine channels and grooves cut into the feed and tines and which have very fine tolerances.

Suppose it was your statements quoted above that made me think you were saying it couldn't or wouldn't be used with a fountain pen - especially the blanket "Wrong."

I stand by those statements, but I never said it couldn't, I just said it wasn't advisable or wasn't likely. You can use a shot-glass as an inkwell, but that doesn't mean you should.
