Well I guess we won’t get the handle measurements. I noticed the handle length between guards of the one pictured in post #6 is about 3 times the blade width, but OP’s handle is barely longer than one blade width. It’d still be useful to see a photo of the handle without obstruction. Where did Alain go?

Good. His dagger looks a lot like others with links in this thread, it’d just be nice to see it all.

It would, especially since it is a rare type.
About the small hilt, most Javanese keris have small hilts, whereas Balinese keris have big heavy hilts. The main function of Javanese keris is spiritual and status, they are only used as a last resort weapon. Balinese keris are also used as spiritual and status symbols, but they have always had an important function as a weapon as well.
Maybe the small hilt of the Jamdhar Katari means its primary function wasn't combat or defense, but ceremonial, or just part of the attire, like so many daggers.

    Hi,
You did not want to meet my grandfather. He had huge and I mean huge hands. He could pick up 6 bricks at a time when they were side by side. They were monsters especially when he went to spank one of the grandkids.:rolleyes::rolleyes:
