Hi everyone! I'm a bit of newbie when it comes to collecting and selling vintage jewelry. Recently I picked up this purple beaded necklace and I need some help dating it. It has a fish hook clasp with 14 k and a picture of an arrow (?) stamped on it. The beads have some weight to them and I believe they are glass. The woman believes it's an older piece and said maybe 1930s. I'd appreciate any input you all could give me!

Can you get a good close up on a few beads on a white background please, likewise the clasp.

komo, the beads look cut to me? The clear ones especially. The opaque obes might well be amethyst.

The fish hook clasp really isn't dateable since they are still being made and sold.

Ah, gotcha komo, makes sense. ;)

Shannon, if you can get the bead holes and thread, that will also help.

They don't look like quality beads to be strung with a 14K clasp.
I think someone strung this themselves.
The beads may well be from the 30s, but cut crystals from that time most likely would have been knotted.
    Just my 2 cents.

Also it looks weird that both the dark purple and then the crystal are graduated.

The smaller beads definitely look like 30s Czech glass. The bigger ones...dunno. They aren't amethyst from what I can see. I think someone used a nice clasp from an old string of pearls to restring Grandma's favorite necklace or something along those lines.

Agreed. The restringing isn't wonderful, I'd be tempted to redo it. Bigger beads look like cloud glass to me. I don't think they started out together.
