Blast the timing Bronwen -In today's market you'd just rebrand it a 'Bar Cart', perfect for the kiddies cocktails.

Oh boy, I always feel bad that these poor people got hoodwinked into thinking they were buying something valuable :(

They are starting, starting, to sell now if not for much and not whole sets. Individual dog or cat (mostly dog) breeds, and some Ooh Pretty ones sell by ones and twos .

My Dad was a savvy investor...except for Coca Cola Collectibles, how can a Limited Edition be 10,000 pieces ?

OK, now what do I do with 25 years worth of Hallmark ornaments that are all houses or other buildings, including a Hallmark store that I think was issued for an anniversary of theirs? Either the family member who sent them to me each Christmas didn't notice that they weren't all from the same series, or a series was ended so they moved to something similar, but the first ones are doll houses, then there are Victorian houses. I forget what all, but from several different series. Still in boxes, most never hung on a tree. They're in a storage tub under my bed. I'm minded to just sell them as one big lot; the idea of trying to sell individually seems absurd. Maybe Housing Works would like them as a seasonal donation. What do we think?

Hallmark ornaments from the 90s do have an audience. I'd split them into four lots or so and make some reseller's week.

They do better than the Beanies or plates. The ones with the polar bears sell, if not for a pile.

I have a similar story. When my dad remarried after my mom passed, my stepmother and my dad went to a flea market and bought something for me that was not worth what they paid or something I would want. I still have it somewhere here.
She thought because it was old it was something I would want. She really didn't know me at all.

There was a lady who was offered 10K for her beanie babies during the height of the craze. She regrets saying no. I saw her story on tv.

After a string of birthday & Christmas boxes with many wrapped gifts, all inappropriate, I suggested we stop trying to give each other gifts. I remember a little brown zippered case, for makeup I suppose, which I don't wear. But the thing about it was that it had a tag extolling genuine leather, how the scars were natural to the hide, etc. You never in your life met anything so obviously vinyl.

There is a decent facebook group for reselling Hallmark ornaments. https://www.facebook.com/groups/828270137214332

I got tired of getting gifts from my SIL early on because she doesn't buy for the person getting the gift, she buys what she wants and gives it to whoever. For my nephew's high school graduation she gave him a gift certificate for a massage. He was 18, he didn't want that! We gave him a new laptop, that he was happy to get :)

Think how happy he would have been with a gift certificate for a lap dance. :angelic:

I went to a church holiday bazaar last month. I picked out a Hallmark Keepsake "Kittens in Toyland" ornament because it depicted a cat. I thought it would be like 25 or 50 cents. I was dumbfounded when the check-out lady said $5. I figured it was to help the church, added to the fact I can never pass up anything cat-related. Assuming it was about the same size as the box, when I got home and took it out of the box, I was disappointed at how small it was, barely a half inch.

They were definitely pushing it. The usually overpriced church sale I hit last weekend would have said $2 because it was in the box. Five is a little much.

Not that long ago, I remember when church suppers around here were $10 or $12 for an adult admission and it was served as "all you can eat". Now they're running in the $20 to $25 range and you get one plate food.
