The churches with sales that I go to near me, have really good stock and low prices.
One place has a big bag of books for $5. Many of my cookbooks have been found there.
I also find the mirro cookie press often at the church thrift. They are guaranteed sellers for me.

My local thrift is very expensive and usually not worth it.

I haven't really gone to them lately because my apt will implode with stuff soon.
But they are calling me name. LOL

I went on my weekly trip to a charity thrift. Their email had pictures of what I knew was Leah Stein...only they knew it too. They had some gold sitting in the case, priced at current melt weight. Really good if you're buying for yourself or Mom, but no good for melt or resale. Rave: they had a pair of used gloves that actually fit me, for $5. Not a really good price, but I lost one and needed something decent,

Most "thrift" shops around here are that in name only. I stopped at a Salvation Army store a while back and was excited to see a whole shelf of cat figurines. I expected that would run about $1 apiece, but when I saw $5 price tags on them, I passed. Nothing exceptional, in fact some said "Dollar Tree" on the bottoms.

I think it is more likely that mom was just bored rather than thinking the stuff was an "investment". I think that a lot of hoarders have voids in their lives that they are trying to fill by accumulating large amounts of stuff.

Well, such a timely post! I also have a tub full of Hallmark ornaments. DH and I put up a tabletop faux Christmas tree now and I put on about a dozen ornaments. No need for a real tree for years now. My mother gave me a new Hallmark ornament every year for about 15 years or so. They are from the 80s and 90s and I think all are dated. I'm happy to thrift them all, but I guess I should check to see if any are worth enough to try to sell.
