Hi I found this while back and am trying to learn some more information about it. It seems to be iron, based on the rust and the fact that it is magnetic, but I can't decide how old it may be, where it's from or who the figure could possibly be. The figure seems to be wearing a crown with a horseshoe in the middle, and the whole thing is 8" long. Anyone have any ideas for me? Thanks in advance! Don't think Medusa's too lucky.

BUT.....this guy is super cool. And lucky to boot! I want him on my door!

And I'm not going to make any jokes about knockers.

    "D'oh!"

I think @Bronwen id on another thread, but I can’t remember. It was a male.
Not the one I was thinking of.
    That was Hercules.

The crescent moon suggests Diana. It's just that the moving part of the knocker has been styled along the lines of Hercules' lion skin with the legs/paws tied under the chin.

It's lucky if she scares away unwanted guests or intruders!

I mounted a vintage doorknocker that has sort of a Bacchus figure on it on my apartment door because I can't always hear someone knocking with their knuckles when I'm in the room with the computer & the radio's on. Very few people seem to know what it is & how to use it.

    Hi,
Any thing with the orangery rust is newer. Old rust turns black. Old rust is Ferrous Oxide newer rust is Hydrated Ferric Oxide.
