Identification of subject and artist

Hello all!

I would appreciate any help in identifying the subject, and/or artist of this painting.


I purchased it about 40 years ago at an auction held on a beautiful estate in Boston.

The painting is on stretched canvas, and approximately 40" x 55". I have more photos, including the backside and sides of the painting, but I have to figure out how to reduce them, because they're larger than allowed on this site.

Thank you for your keen eye. The painting is in storage, but I will definitely check it out next time I see it.

 

Looks like a Celluloid collar. If so, that would help date it. Fobs I see of this type always strike me as being newer, late Victorian/Edwardian, because of their cheaper construction: lighter weight; gilt, not gold; glass intaglios. I don't think this one has initials, but remember in looking for them that they would be reversed, in orientation & order.
