Identifying Vintage Plastic

Discussion in 'Jewelry' started by storangesandlemons, Oct 16, 2021.

  1. I have two buttons, one broke in half and seems to be filled with a crystal type material?

I want to keep the other button in my collection, but I'm afraid that the plastic is rotten due to being store with the matching weak button. Is it safe to keep the other button if there are no visible signs of rot? Can anyone tell me what type of plastic this is?

Thank you for your help image0 3.jpeg

    It's celluloid.

If the other one is exactly the same, then no, don't keep it with your other buttons.

Can you show us what the back of the good button looks like?
