Hi bercrystal, thanks for the advice! They actually don't have the Waterford mark, but my understanding is that that was introduced in the 1970s or 1980s, so crystal before that won't have it. At any rate, I'm fairly convinced these are authentic since I inherited them from directly from a family member, and she told me that they were a wedding gift bought at the Waterford factory in Ireland (unfortunately, she is no longer living, so I can't follow up about the exact year, but it would have been in the first half of the 1950s). There were originally 40 glasses (8 each of 5 different types of glasses). In a twist, however, I think those other 32 glasses might be a different pattern (they look kind of like Boyne or Adare or Donegal, maybe, because they have the diamond-ish pattern on the bottom without the upright cut, and they have the ball shape on the stem--apologies for the description since I don't know the correct technical terms!). I think the other four glass types are cordial, tumbler, champagne/sherbet, and either water or wine). Are there any patterns that were available in the early 1950s this might match that might have a glass that matches as well?
