    Yes, it was a coin in a pre-Russia Medieval federation of East Slavic and Fin groups. I believe at one time zolotnik was also used for weights other than precious metals.

    Thanks, I try to found more about this value coin, the weight given by the zolotnik is by name made for precious metal(zolot for gold), but can certainly be used for others precious things which are measured in grams now.
    The carat used as a division unit is described for example in the napoleonic table for conversion to the metric system, like the loths or the deniers, but the napoleonic system converted that in weight unit too compared to the gram, for example, they give for the "karat" a weight of 2,05342 grams in 1808…
    The ancient units were very complicated compared to our actual system !
