Featured In my heart of hearts I know this is just a bog standard vase…

…But my gut feeling is that it is something special.

It’s a transparent blue glass vase with the overall height of 34cm. The weight is 910g. Photograph [1].

Starting at the rim, the diameter is 67mm; but turned through 90⁰ and it increases to 68.5mm. Obviously, the neck has been squeezed and is elliptical [photograph 2]. As the hand slides a down and it reaches the start of the bowl it becomes concentric again, and all is normal. The ellipse created two scallops 180⁰ apart in the rim photographs [3 and 4].

The foot is clear glass, although it has with wavy lines as can be seen in photographs [5]. There is a pontil scar on the foot, and internal to the vase is a intended large dome, photographs [6, 7 and 8].

There are a few small bubbles in the blue glass photographs [9 and 10]; but no sign of striations.

What are the more reflective thoughts of the members? Thank you.

I think the focus of my photographs are much improved since I had two cataracts removed.
