Indian brass 2 piece ball

Hi folks

something i found yesterday for £2 in a house clearance shop

thinking not that much age, 70s ?

wondering was its supposed to be used for ? incense ?

looks like it has been used for something

any thoughts appreciated

 

If you wanted to burn incense cones inside the ball, you'd need a separate dish to burn the incense on. Maybe it is for something non-burning fragrant, much like 'our' potpourri.

its not the greatest of fits, so burning something in it would be something of a hazard

d'ya reckon mid century ish or laters ?

 

Frankly, no idea.

 

Can you tell which area of the world the decoration comes from? Pacific islands? Or somewhere in south Asia, perhaps?
